Community Life In Commerce, TXNovember 26, 2013 | Found in: Academy, Epworth
Here in Commerce, Texas, we have seven students who began living in intentional community together this August; four women in the Hallelujah House and three men in the Sabbath House. Both houses share a common rule of life that includes prayer, meals together, and a commitment to living in community. But, each household also has a certain quirkiness to how they live out the lifestyle. One example happens on Wednesdays at the Sabbath House when the members of the house each invite one or two guest from the college or community for a home cooked meal, a funny picture on their couch, and the occasional reading of a Winnie the Pooh story. Students from the Wesleyan Campus Ministry and other campus ministries often come to the homes for fellowship and a safe place to simply be. Through all of this we are becoming practitioners of radical hospitality as we seek to better understand the ways of Jesus and God's Kingdom!
