MWF Welcomes Rev. Lorenza Andrade Smith

MWF Welcomes Rev. Lorenza Andrade Smith
The Missional Wisdom Foundation recently welcomed Rev. Lorenza Andrade Smith to visit Bonhoeffer House, teach with Elaine Heath at SMU and speak at Grace United Methodist Church.

Some reflections:

Many people are exploring a call to ministry. Some have figured out that you answer a call to become a disciple of Jesus Christ and then will be sent to live among your neighbors as Christ. Some ask to be appointed to live among their neighbors as Jesus did. Some have given up everything that most of us value to make us secure and feel safe.

Here is a picture of a friend who has discovered what it means to move toward becoming like Christ, and knowing ministry happens as you walk with your neighbors and break bread with your neighbors and pray with your neighbors.

Lorenza preached the gospel at Grace UMC in Dallas last evening. Since seeing her last year, there is a new voice in her. There is a stance in the Lord that has grown and deepened. There is a look in her eyes that seems to live in awareness with compassion, without entertaining. Love seems to be casting out fear, and Life is growing in this woman who is stepping into the reality of becoming and overflowing. She is learning by living among the homeless population. She tells stories about their hospitality and sharing as all have need. They may have nothing, but they do not seem to complain about sharing what little they may have among them.

You may be looking a the new education system among those who seek to become a disciple of Jesus Christ and become equipped to be about the work of the ministry.

If you do not know about Lorenza and her request as a United Methodist Elder to be appointed to live on the street, giving up her insurance and guaranteed salary to live among the homeless and learn from those who live it... become FB friends with her and see through her eyes. I will warn you though. You may question everything you have and do in the days to come.

Yesterday I attended to The Dietrich Bonhoeffer house and met this amazing woman Rev. Lorenza Andrade Smith she talks on the criminalization of the poor and marginalized her massage and life forced me to look deep inside mine and examine where and what god is calling me to, my respect to her she gave up everything (house, job, car) EVERYTHING!! She lives among the homeless, the poor, she refers to them as "with my friends under the stars" she is a truly an inspiration.. Lovely testimony god bless you
You’re in Good Hands
You are in God’s hands.

Of you, our prayer in New Testament class today, a poem by Mary Anne Radmacher:

living eulogy.
she danced.
she sang. she took.
she gave.
she loved.
she created.
she dissented. she enlivened.
she saw. she grew. she sweated.
she changed.
she learned. she laughed.
she shed her skin.
she bled on the pages of her days,
she walked through walls,
she lived with intention.
