The MWF's Response in Support of Black Lives
The Missional Wisdom Foundation is appalled by the murders of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmad Aubrey, and countless others who have lost their lives because of racism and white privilege. White privilege has been established and maintained through injustice, exploitation, and the murder of black people, indigenous people, and people of color. We are committed to fighting the injustice of racism and white privilege.
At the Missional Wisdom Foundation we believe that community is a means of grace, a way that God brings love into the world. 1 Corinthians 12 models love through the analogy of the Body of Christ. In this body, we are diverse and abundant. The psalmist sings that we are all “fearfully and wonderfully made;” we need each other to be complete. Because of that, we reject forces that divide, and recognize that whenever one part of the body suffers the entire body suffers. For far too long persons with black and brown bodies have suffered and many members of the church have been silent. This cannot continue and we will no longer be complicit through silence or inaction. Below is the starting point of our commitment to anti-racism and the fight for justice.

We embrace the contemplative stance that calls us towards action, where we show up, pay attention, cooperate with God, and release the outcome
We do so prayerfully and with intentionality, seeking to follow the lead of the Holy Spirit with wisdom and great care for each other.
We commit to the ongoing exploration and reflection of our own participation in racism and oppressive systems.
We commit to anti-racist reflection that will strengthen our awareness of systemic racism and strengthen our work towards justice.
We commit to prayer, careful listening, and working towards racial justice and reconciliation.
We commit to internal and external channels of transparent accountability within our community.
We commit to the lifetime journey of becoming made in the image of Christ, working with and for communities that uphold and protect the value and dignity of black lives.
We believe the Body of Christ, when in wholeness, with the diversity of gifts through God’s grace, can overcome systemic sin of racism and injustice. Along with listening and educating ourselves, we will strive each day to give a helping hand and to receive a helping hand, as all of us need help. We will do what we can to protect each other. May the Body of Christ allow us to be led through this historic hour by those who know the way, who have been fighting this fight for their entire lives, who carry generations of racial discrimination and trauma in their lives and memories.
May the Spirit equip us for the long road ahead, within, and among us.
